AJCOP International Job Bank

This on-line service provides information on employment opportunities with national and international agencies which is not readily available through normal channels. The Job Bank also posts thumbnail sketches of members seeking positions. The AJCOP Job Bank is available and continuously updated on-line at www.ajcop.org under "Members Only". Log in and request a password. For further information on the Job Bank, please call the AJCOP Office. 

 Chaver Program

This formal mentoring program carefully pairs well-seasoned colleagues with those seeking their experience, wisdom and perspective related to professional or personal issues on a confidential basis.  If you wish to participate as a mentor or mentee, contact Lou@ajcop.org and forms will be sent to you.

 Modern Midrash: AJCOP Online Journal
The Journal fosters community, dialogue and learning among AJCOP colleagues.  Our world today is so fast paced and colleagues across the geographic and organizational spectrum often do not have opportunity to engage one another in thoughtful discussion about the issues that confront us and our communities. The journal explores fundamental and concrete issues related to professional practice in Jewish community organization, particularly those issues concerned with ethics and values and how they inform and shape our organizations and the sacred work we do.  

 Insurance Programs

Opportunities for good values in purchasing life insurance, disability insurance, tax-sheltered annuities, long-term care insurance and insurance counseling is provided by your membership. 

 Leadership Opportunities

Members are given opportunities to assume leadership roles. The following committees provide opportunities for involvement: Awards, Membership, Professional Development, Retirement, Regional Meetings, Endowments, Women's Advancement, Young Professionals and Computer Technology for Professionals.

 Professional Advancement & Development

Opportunities to participate in national conferences, regional meetings, national committees, contacts with other professionals in the field and related fields. AJCOP provides subsidies for teaching resources and covers some of the administrative costs for this effort. Special programs are offered at regional meetings and institutes, and at annual conferences to improve skills of professionals.

 Professional Development Grants

AJCOP provides professional development grants to members through the following endowment funds: The Norman Edell Scholarship for first time attendance at a General Assembly; The Steve FRD Award for attendance at a FRD conference; and the Bernard Rodkin Israel Experience Award for an in-depth study experience in Israel.  Professional Standards & Guidelines

Establishment of guidelines and standards for personnel practices and benefits, code of ethics and retirement goals. For a copy of these guidelines, please call the AJCOP Hot Line or log on to www.ajcop.org and select Code of Ethics.

 Publications

As a member of AJCOP, you will receive the AJCOP Prolog and have access to member articles published online.   Should an AJCOP member desire to publish in the Prolog or submit an article for online distribution, please send it by email to Lou@ajcop.org.

 Recognition

Annual awards for individual professional achievement are given such as the Mandelkorn Distinguished Service Award and the Rosichan Retiree of the Year Award. 2004 winners include Jay Yoskowitz, Mandelkorn Distinguished Service Award and Daniel Mann, Rosichan Retirees of the Year.

 Networking Opportunities

Share your ideas, successes and learning experiences with other colleagues and young professionals through the Prolog and discussion areas of our website.

 AJCOP Virtual Meetings

AJCOP Virtual Meetings are active online chatrooms, allowing AJCOP Members to discuss and network around topics of interest to them.  Monitored uncensored meetings are going on concerning:  Employment, Retired and Still Working for the Jewish People and Others, Women’s Issues, Young Professionals, Recruitment & Retention, Non-Federation Employees, Supervision, Professionals at Home and Transitioning to Volunteer Status.  To join a meeting, send on email to marlene@ajcop.org.

 Membership in JCSA

AJCOP provides your membership in our national professional body, the Jewish Communal Service Association. Through AJCOP, all of the programs and services of JCSA are available to you.

 Retirees

The Association is available for pre-retirement counseling.
