National Jewish Agencies

In the session on “Building Our Global Jewish Community,” at the AJCOP Professional Development Day held in Boca Raton, a participant noted the lack of knowledge about Jewish organizations outside the Federation system.  About one fourth of AJCOP’s current membership is made up of professionals who raise funds on behalf of Israeli institutions outside of the Federation system, doing vital social welfare and educational work for the Jewish People.
AJCOP members working for these institutions have been given the opportunity to share information about their organizations and services with our membership.

Boys Town Jerusalem

Boys Town Jerusalem is one of Israel’s premier institutions for educating the country’s next generation of leaders in the fields of technology, commerce, education, the military and public service.  Since its founding in 1948, BTJ has pursued its mission of turning young boys from limited backgrounds into young men with limitless futures.  From Junior High through the College level, the three part curriculum at Boys Town – academic, technological and Torah – is designed to turn otherwise disadvantaged Israeli youth into productive citizens of tomorrow.  The campus, located on 18 acres in the Bayit Vegan neighborhood of Jerusalem, is a home-away-from-home for its 800 member student body with a capacity to serve up to 1,000 boys. More than 6,200 graduates hold key positions throughout Israeli society.

Weizmann Institute

In the session on “Building Our Global Jewish Community,” a participant noted the lack of knowledge about Jewish organizations outside the Federation system.  We are the local representatives of the Weizmann Institute, one of the world’s leading institutions of biomedical and scientific research; we would be happy to hear from you and share with you information about our work and upcoming events.  You can also look at our web site (www.weizmann-usa.org) or do a Google news search.  (At the time I am writing this e-mail, there is a breaking story about Weizmann scientists discovering details about the mechanisms controlling metastasis of breast cancer cells which may aid in the development of new anti-cancer drugs.)

We especially invite you to visit our gorgeous 300 acre campus in Rehovot, Israel to view first-hand the work of our scientist in their mission of “Science for the Benefit of Humanity.”  You will feel very proud of the contribution which American Jews, particularly those from this region, have done to make the Institute what Golda Meir called  “Israel’s best calling card.”

Shalom and L’hitraot!
